More Images of Abandonment

Rusty rings on a backyard swingset.

I had to leave the office for a while yesterday to check out a possible excessive trashout and check if an abandoned vehicle was free to be towed away. In the end, the trashout was not excessive, and the vehicle did not have any legal issues. It was a short morning in the field, then, but here are some snapshots from my walkthrough.

Ping pong and wine: they go great together.

The house sat amid about an acre of converted marshland, and the neighborhood felt like a blend between suburban tract housing and a hobby farm in northern Minnesota. The house was mostly empty, a standard trashout. I was surprised by the absolute silence of the area.

It's been a while since burgers sizzled on this grill.

I did not dare open this pandora's box of purportedly healthful surprises.

It was nice to still have some green at this time of year.

Near the kitchen sink.

Soon this all will be covered with snow once again.

The next stop was another suburban home with a vehicle left in the garage. Can you tell what kind of vehicle this is by these photos?

Photo 1. If you guess the make and model here, you have an expert eye.

Photo 2. This is a more telling detail, but you'd still have to be a car aficionado to get this here.

Photo 3. Now you should get it. Post in the comments if you can, or can't, figure out what this vehicle is.

  1. Perhaps I’m not as clever as I thought. Tiffany, from the office here at DuAll, correctly guessed the make and model in under one second after seeing the first photo. How did you do?

We humans are explorers by nature. The quest for discovery, both old and new, is part of what separates us from rest of the animal kingdom. Since the world we live in has been largely mapped and plotted, we urban adventurers turn our sights toward the relics of old and the ruins of the recent past……
